Palace in Friedrichstadt breaks historical milestone with latest achievement
In an unprecedented milestone for the renowned Friedrichstadt-Palast, the grand show 'Falling | In Love' has concluded its run with a bang, setting new records for ticket sales, visitor numbers, and occupancy rates.
For the first time in the show's history, two men graced the famous kickline, adding a fresh twist to the captivating performances. The final show on 31st December 2023 was a sold-out event, with an overall occupancy rate of 93.66% across the 1,899 seats per performance. This impressive figure surpassed the previous record holder, 'Arise' (2021-2023), by 13.9 million euros in box office receipts, generating a staggering 61.1 million euros in ticket sales.
The show, which achieved a visitor record of 908,000 guests, was the brainchild of Oliver Hoppmann, who served as the author and creative director. Fashion icon Jean Paul Gaultier (73) played a significant role in the production, curating the show and designing many of the costumes. He even made a special appearance on stage, returning to the catwalk at the end of the show.
Intendant Berndt Schmidt expressed his gratitude for the historic success of 'Falling | In Love', thanking the 400 employees of the Friedrichstadt-Palast and acknowledging Gaultier's work as the costume designer for the current grand show.
As the curtains close on 'Falling | In Love', the stage is set for the new grand show, 'BLINDED by DELIGHT'. Set to begin running on 24th September 2025 and continue through to 31st December 2025, the performances will typically start at 19:30. More details about the show will be revealed in due course, but one thing is certain - the bar has been set high, and expectations are running high.
