Buckingham Palace has issued a statement on its official website, confirming that Prince William attended the UEFA Women's Euro Final on 27th July 2025. The statement, issued from Kensington Palace, also reveals that he was received at EuroAirport Basel Mulhouse Freiburg.

According to the statement, Prince William is a Patron of the Football Association and he and Princess Charlotte were present at St. Jakob-Park, Basel, Switzerland, to witness England's 3-1 shoot-out victory over Spain. The win avenged England's 2023 Women's World Cup final loss against Spain.

The statement further reveals that Prince William and Princess Charlotte issued a joint statement congratulating England's players on their win, expressing pride in the entire English team. However, the statement did not provide any new information about the event or mention any specific role for Princess Charlotte as a working royal family member.

Reports suggest that Princess Charlotte accompanied Prince William to the UEFA Women's EURO 2025 final as a personal father-daughter outing and a milestone for her first overseas soccer game. While the media coverage describes Charlotte's interactions, such as teaming up with Spanish princesses during the trip, these details are not present in the official palace statements. This likely reflects the usual practice of Buckingham Palace focusing public statements on the public duties of senior royals like Prince William, rather than private family outings or appearances by younger royals such as Princess Charlotte.

It is important to note that, according to the statement, Princess Charlotte is currently not a working royal family member. The joint statement by William and Charlotte did not contradict this earlier statement.

The AFP reports that England's victory in the UEFA Women's Euro Final was a significant moment for women's football and a testament to the growing popularity and importance of the sport. The joint statement by Prince William and Princess Charlotte serves as a public expression of support for England's win and the entire team's efforts.
