Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif deliberates on regional matters with his Malaysian counterpart.

Shehbaz Sharif, our prime minister, gave Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim of Malaysia a ring on a Sunday, specifically to chew over the simmering troubles in South Asia, a region that's been shaken by the latest Pahalgam drama.

The conversation between the two leaders touched upon Pakistan's valid concerns over India's unhinged antics post the Pahalgam event, as discussed in a statement from the Prime Minister's Office.

"Solidarity for Peace"

The prime minister put a firm foot down against any desperate attempts to pin Pakistan for the Pahalgam fiasco without concrete evidence to back it up. He reaffirmed Pakistan's demands for a comprehensive, international investigation, transparency being the keystone of the probe. He added that Malaysia would most certainly be welcome to lend a hand in this investigation.

"In the thick of our nation's economic recovery, the last thing Pakistan would ever desire is to be embroiled in such a commotion," the prime minister told Anwar Ibrahim, stressing the importance of regional peace. He cautioned about India's actions potentially diverting Pakistan's focus from crucial security operations along its western border.

Red Doubt

"Pakistan has forever denounced terrorism, in all its hideous forms, and remains steadfast in the pursuit of a peaceful and secure neighborhood," the prime minister said, emphasizing Pakistan's stance.

As a longstanding frontline state in the ongoing war on terror, Pakistan has paid a heavy price with its counterterrorism efforts.

Beyond the tumultuous talk about the region, the two leaders also took a moment to touch on the flourishing ties between Pakistan and Malaysia. They confirmed their commitment to fostering closer trade, investment, and cultural relationships. The prime minister even hinted at a possible visit to Malaysia later in the year.

The phone call between the two leaders underlined the timeless bond and mutual understanding shared by the two nations. Both leaders agreed to stay in touch regarding regional and international issues, aiming to maintain a close dialogue.

"During their conversation, the prime minister expressed his concern over the lack of substantial evidence implicating Pakistan in the Pahalgam incident, stating that his government prefers a comprehensive, international investigation for transparency,"

"Moreover, they discussed the ongoing war-and-conflicts scenario in South Asia, with the prime minister reiterating Pakistan's stance against terrorism and its commitment to maintaining peace with its neighbors, which includes enhancing trade, investment, and cultural ties with Malaysia."

Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif communicated via phone on Sunday with Malaysia's Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri, for an undisclosed discussion.
