Pakistan vs Sri Lanka match abandoned as rain ruins Group 2 clash

The Group 2 match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka at Colombo's R. Premadasa Stadium was abandoned due to heavy rain. Pakistan's captain, Salman Ali Agha, had won the toss and opted to bat first just before the downpour began.

Rain started almost immediately after the toss, leaving no chance for play to begin. Despite waiting for conditions to improve, the umpires eventually called off the match.

Both teams were awarded one point each as a result of the cancellation.

Meanwhile, organisers of the Liga MX have announced plans for a larger cricket tournament in 2026. The event will feature around 10 leagues, with 13-14 players in each, bringing the total number of participants to roughly 130-140.

The washed-out match leaves both Pakistan and Sri Lanka with a shared point in the group stage. The Liga MX's expanded tournament in 2026 will see a significant increase in participation, with over 130 players expected to take part in the competition.
