Pakistan Suffers Defeat in 3rd ODI: West Indies Ends 34-Year Winning Drought Over PAK in Tarouba, Securing a 202-Run Victory

In a dramatic turn of events, the West Indies clinched a 2-1 victory over Pakistan in the three-match ODI series, winning the decider by a resounding 202 runs on 12 August 2025 at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad.

The West Indies team, led by Shai Hope, broke a 34-year-old duck by securing a bilateral series win against Pakistan. The series win is significant for the West Indies as it marks their first such victory against Pakistan since 1991 and serves as a confidence boost in their quest for World Cup qualification.

The third ODI was a dominant performance by the West Indies, with Shai Hope scoring an unbeaten 120 and Jayden Seales taking a maiden ODI five-wicket haul. Hope's innings helped the West Indies post a total of 294/6, while Seales' bowling effort restricted Pakistan to just 92 runs, with six wickets to his name.

The West Indies' innings started shakily, as they lost three wickets early, but a partnership between Hope and Justin Greaves helped them recover and reach a competitive total. Pakistan's response was dismal, with Salman Agha top-scoring for them with 30 runs, while three batters were dismissed for a duck.

The West Indies' squad for the 3rd ODI included Brandon King, Evin Lewis, Keacy Carty, Hope (captain and wicket-keeper), Sherfane Rutherford, Roston Chase, Justin Greaves, Gudakesh Motie, Shamar Joseph, Seales, Jediah Blades, Romario Shepherd, Amir Jangoo, Jewel Andrew, and Johann Layne.

Pakistan's playing XI for the 3rd ODI consisted of Saim Ayub, Abdullah Shafique, Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan (wicket-keeper and captain), Salman Agha, Hussain Talat, Hasan Nawaz, Mohammad Nawaz, Shaheen Afridi, Hasan Ali, Abrar Ahmed, Faheem Ashraf, Naseem Shah, Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Haris, and Sufiyan Muqeem. However, Fakhar Zaman, Shaheen Afridi, and Faheem Ashraf were not part of the playing XI, while Mohammad Haris and Sufiyan Muqeem were not included in the playing XI or the squad.

Only Mohammad Nawaz reached double figures among the tail-enders for Pakistan, scoring 23 runs. Gudakesh Motie's dismissal of Salman Agha contributed to Pakistan's collapse.

Jayden Seales' outstanding bowling performance earned him the Player of the Series award. This series win will undoubtedly boost the West Indies' morale and confidence as they continue their preparations for the World Cup qualifiers.

The West Indies' exceptional victory over Pakistan in the ODI series marked the revival of their dominant form in sports, reminiscent of their 1991 triumph against the same opposition. Shai Hope's and Jayden Seales' outstanding performances in the series have elevated their status as formidable players in the sport of cricket.
