Pakistan to Compete in AFC Futsal Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers
The Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) has announced that the first-ever Futsal National Team tryouts will take place on August 10, 2025, at the 5th Generation Sports Complex in DHA Phase 8, Lahore. The tryouts, which will be held from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, are open to futsal players across Pakistan.
Futsal, a fast-paced indoor variant of football, emphasizes close control, quick passes, and creativity. Known for its speed and frequent goal-scoring opportunities, the sport has rapidly gained popularity in Pakistan, particularly among youth.
The tryouts are a significant step towards Pakistan's participation in the AFC Futsal Asian Cup 2026 qualifiers, which will be held in Saudi Arabia next month, from Sep. 20 to 24. Pakistan will be competing in Group D, alongside Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Chinese Taipei.
The group stage matches will be held in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. Pakistan will face Iraq on Sep. 20, Saudi Arabia on Sep. 22, and Chinese Taipei on Sep. 24. The Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) will finalize the national team squad in due course following the tryouts and a training camp, which is expected to begin in the first week of September 2025.
