In a significant milestone, Pakistan registered their first 200-plus total in back-to-back T20Is against Bangladesh, a feat not accomplished since 2018. Batting first at home, the Green Shirts were boosted by Sahibzada Farhan's stellar form, who contributed 74 runs in 41 balls to help establish a formidable total.
Opening the innings, Farhan exhibited his aggressive intent, hitting six sixes and gaining his sixth T20 fifty of 2025. Farhan's consistent high scoring this year has played a pivotal role in Pakistan's newfound batting prowess. So far in 2025, he has made 1,128 runs in 20 matches, averaging 62.66 and boasting a strike rate of 172.21. The 29-year-old has also notched up four centuries during this period. His runs have earned him multiple player of the match awards and strengthened his position as a key batsman in Pakistan's T20 setup this year.
Incidentally, Pakistan's consecutive 200-plus scores mark seven years since their last such instance, a period that precedes the partnership of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan. The pair, often scrutinized for their scoring rate, first batted together in 2019 and opened the innings for the first time in 2021. Despite making a combined total of 3,300 runs for all wickets, their strike rate dropped to 131.97 while opening. Notably, they were omitted from the T20I tour against New Zealand in March and have not yet been selected for the ongoing series against Bangladesh.
Pakistan have also chosen to not include star quick and PSL 2025-winning captain Shaheen Afridi in the ongoing series against Bangladesh.
