Heat Escalates: Pakistan Strikes Back Against India Following Alleged Rocket Attack

Pakistan launches offensive action against India

In a testy turn of events, Pakistan has launched a strategic counterattack on India early this morning. According to the Pakistani military, key support points, including a significant rocket base in northern India, were targeted in the operation named "Bunyanun Marsoos," a term steeped in the Quran, meaning a unified, fortified structure.

The Pakistan military claimed to have successfully hit Indian airbases in Punjab and Kashmir, including the Pathankot airbase and the Udhampur air force base. However, these allegations are yet to be verified, and Indian media reports deny any damage to their S-400 air defense system in Adampur, Punjab.

Pakistan's Denied Assaults

Prior to Pakistan's offensive, India was reportedly attacked with rockets at air force bases, including one near Islamabad. Pakistani military spokesperson General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry allegedly stated the attacks targeted the Nur Khan, Mureed, and Shorkot bases. Nevertheless, most missiles were successfully intercepted, and no air force facilities were hit.

Meanwhile, the Indian military announced it had thwarted several Pakistani drone attacks, emphasizing its commitment to countering such aggressive actions. Continuous attacks from Pakistan were reported along the western border, with Indian air defense units destroying multiple armed drones around 5 am local time.

G7 Warns Against Escalation

Seizing the opportunity to put a halt to this dangerous cycle, the G7 group of industrial nations urged both parties to exercise restraint and collaborate towards a peaceful solution. The statement declared, "Further military escalation poses a grave threat to regional stability," expressing deep concern for the welfare of civilians on both sides. The G7 consists of Germany, the USA, Canada, France, Italy, Japan, the UK, and the EU's High Representative.

Political Expert Insight: "Nuclear Threat Seems Distant"

India's recent attacks follow a devastating terrorist attack on April 22 in Jammu and Kashmir that killed 26 people, the majority being Indian tourists. The Indian government accuses Pakistan of involvement, however, Pakistan's leadership denies any ties to the incident. The violent exchanges between the arch-rivals are the most intense in nearly three decades. Unverified reports suggest that around 50 casualties have occurred on either side.

Tensions between India and Pakistan have simmered for years, especially over issues like Kashmir and border disputes.ever since the violent partition following India's independence from British rule in 1947, these bitter rivalries have dominated relations between the two nations. In response, the international community, including the G7, emphasizes the importance of diplomatic dialogue and conflict resolution to maintain stability in the region.
