The Asia Cup Hockey 2025 promises an exciting and unpredictable tournament, with the competition set to take place at Bihar's Rajgir Sports Complex in India from August 29 to September 7, 2025.

South Korea, the five-time champions, will once again be the team to beat, aiming to win a sixth title. However, the reshuffle due to withdrawals and replacements has introduced a new level of tension and unpredictability. The absence of Pakistan from the tournament, due to security concerns, has further opened up the field for competition.

The tournament structure remains the same, with the top two teams from each pool advancing to the Super4s, a further round-robin stage. The top two teams from the Super4s will then play off for the final, with the winner qualifying for the 2026 FIH World Cup in the Netherlands and Belgium.

India, the No. 1 team in Asia and the host of the tournament, will be participating. Their opener against China promises an intense regional rivalry. The opening match of the tournament will feature Malaysia against Bangladesh, who has replaced Pakistan in the tournament.

The pools for the tournament have been completed: Pool A includes India, Japan, China, and Kazakhstan, while Pool B includes Malaysia, South Korea, Bangladesh, and Chinese Taipei. The inclusion of Bangladesh and Kazakhstan has added an element of unpredictability to the tournament.

AHF President Fumio Ogura emphasized the importance of the tournament, stating that every match will carry enormous importance. India, as the host, will try to leverage this advantage for competitive advantage.

The Asia Cup Hockey 2025 draws hockey closer to politics and international relations, making this edition notable for both sports and broader circumstances. The tournament is shaping up to be a thrilling display of skill, strategy, and sporting spirit.
