Pakistan defeats UAE, setting up an India rematch in Dubai for the cricket competition

In the Asia Cup 2025, held in Dubai, Pakistan emerged victorious against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by a significant margin of 41 runs. The match, which started an hour late due to a handshake row with India, saw Pakistan make a total of 146-9, with Fakhar Zaman scoring a quickfire 50 off just 36 balls.

Shaheen Shah Afridi added a brisk 29 not out to Pakistan's total, while Haris Rauf and Abrar Ahmed took 2 wickets each. Haris Rauf impressed with figures of 2-19, while Shaheen and Abrar Ahmed took 2 wickets each for 16 runs and 13 runs respectively. The UAE were dismissed for 105 in 17.4 overs, failing to match Pakistan's total.

Despite the demand from the Pakistan Cricket Board for the removal of match referee Andy Pycroft, he oversaw the game between Pakistan and the UAE, as well as the game between Pakistan and India, despite the handshake row. The search results do not provide any information about the identity of the umpire for the Super-Four match between Pakistan and India in the Asia Cup 2025 in Dubai.

With this win, Pakistan has joined India in the Super Four from Group A in the Asia Cup. The two teams will meet again in Dubai on Sunday, with Haris Rauf expressing confidence that Pakistan will be more competitive in their rematch with India. If both teams reach the Sept. 28 final, they could potentially meet for a third time.

Additional reporting for this article was provided by Reuters. Bilateral cricket between India and Pakistan has been suspended since 2013, making the upcoming match an exciting prospect for cricket fans worldwide.
