Former Pakistani fast bowler and legendary interim coach, Aaqib Javed, has ignited a fresh chapter in the Pakistan cricket setup.
Aaqib Javed sets sails as High-Performance Director
The Pakistan Cricket Board publicly announced today (May 13) that Aaqib Javed has been appointed as the High-Performance Director, following the announcement of Mike Hesson as the white-ball head coach of the Pakistan team.
"To ignite the fire in our cricket infrastructure, we're thrilled to have Aqib Javed on board as Director of High Performance," PCB chair Mohsin Naqvi reportedly said in PCB's release. "His appointment, paired with Mike Hesson as the white-ball Head Coach, signals a monumental leap in our ambitious vision for Pakistan Cricket."
"Together, their mastery and leadership will play a critical role in the development, evolution, and success of our national team," Naqvi added.

Aaqib Javed's previous gigs in Pakistan cricket
Since Gary Kirsten's resignation, Javed spearheaded the Pakistan white-ball teams as interim coach. He even filled the void left by Jason Gillespie's departure last year, taking temporary command of the Test side for a while.
Before embarking on his interim head coach journey, Javed relinquished his head coach position at Lahore Qalandars to join the Pakistan senior men's team as a national selector in 2024. Javed has been linked with the Qalandars since 2016, and he also served as bowling coach for Pakistan and a coach for the U19 side that won the 2004 Under-19 World Cup alongside Waqar Younis.
Under his reign, Pakistan played four Tests, winning one, and losing three, 17 ODIs with eight victories and nine defeats, and 13 T20Is, claiming three wins against ten losses.
This latest coaching stint marks yet another shakeup on the coaching staff roster that's been a common occurrence in Pakistan cricket over the past years. The likes of Tim Nielsen, Yasir Arafat, and Simon Helmont have taken on various high-performance roles for Pakistan in recent times.
