Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's state visit to Saudi Arabia has commenced, marking a significant step in the relations between the two countries. The visit, at the invitation of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, is set to consolidate the unique partnership between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

Upon arrival, PM Shehbaz was greeted with Saudi royal protocol, including a horse-mounted guard. He was received at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh, where he met with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

The bilateral conference, attended by Pakistani cabinet members such as Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, began with a guard of honor presented by the Saudi armed forces.

The two leaders are expected to exchange views on regional and global developments of mutual interest. The Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement signed during the visit underscores nearly eight decades of historic partnership between the two countries.

Under the pact, any aggression against either Pakistan or Saudi Arabia will be treated as an aggression against both states. This agreement reflects their shared commitment to strengthening defense cooperation and regional security.

The visit is expected to result in the formalisation of cooperation in diverse fields. The agreement, a testament to their shared values, reaffirms the historic ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

During the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit in Doha on September 15, PM Shehbaz met the crown prince on the sidelines. The Saudi crown prince expressed appreciation for Pakistan's active diplomatic efforts at the UNSC and OIC to show solidarity with Qatar.

Reaffirming the historic ties, the prime minister thanked the Kingdom for its consistent support for Pakistan. He also expressed his anticipation for the upcoming state visit, looking forward to further strengthening the bilateral relations.

The official talks, held at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh, mark a new chapter in the relationship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, promising a future of mutual understanding and cooperation.
