Paige Bueckers of the Wings break the franchise's rookie assist record in a single season, as witnessed in the video.

In the ongoing 2025 WNBA season, rookie sensation Paige Bueckers continues to make history. Currently tied for 14th-15th on the all-time rookie assist list with 146 assists, Bueckers is just seven assists behind Jackie Young, who holds the 10th spot. With only 10 games remaining in the season, Bueckers is poised to climb into the top 10 if she maintains her current pace.

Bueckers, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft, has been a standout player for the Dallas Wings. Her versatile offensive game has been a primary reason for her success, and it was on full display in a recent game against the Los Angeles Sparks. In that match, Bueckers broke her own franchise’s rookie assist record, surpassing Odyssey Sims’ previous record of 142 assists, set in 2014.

The record-breaking assist came in a pick-and-roll with Myisha Hines-Allen in the middle of the first quarter. Despite the Wings ultimately losing the game to the Sparks, Bueckers' performance was impressive. She finished the game with 29 points, four rebounds, and five assists.

Bueckers is not alone in her impressive rookie season. Caitlin Clark is the only other player to average at least 18 points and 5 assists as a rookie. Meanwhile, Emma Meesseman continues to impress, averaging 18.8 points and 5.4 assists, placing her 7th and 8th in the league respectively.

The Dallas Wings, however, are struggling as a team. Currently stuck in 12th place at 9-25, they are heading toward a second consecutive lottery appearance. Despite this, the future looks bright with Bueckers leading the way.

In a remarkable feat, Bueckers also became the 22nd rookie to reach 500 career points, achieving the milestone in just 27 games. No one in the Wings franchise history has reached 500 points faster.

Bueckers is not done yet, though. She is 31 assists behind Dawn Staley for a spot in the top-five for most assists by a rookie. If she continues her impressive form, Bueckers could well find herself in the top five by the end of the season.

With her talent and determination, there is no doubt that Paige Bueckers is a star in the making. The WNBA is lucky to have her, and fans can expect to see much more from her in the future.
