Mahendra Singh Dhoni Launches 7Padel Centre in Chennai
Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the legendary cricketer, has expanded his horizons beyond the cricket field with the launch of his new venture, 7Padel, a sports and wellness hub in Chennai, India. The 20,000 sq. ft. facility, located at Palavakkam, ECR (East Coast Road), adjacent to Alphabet School on MGR Salai, offers a variety of sports and wellness facilities [1].
The centre, which is Dhoni's first 7Padel Centre, includes three padel courts, a pickleball court, a gym, a swimming pool, a recovery room, a cafe, and a sauna. Padel, a sport that is a mix of tennis and squash, played in enclosed courts, and slightly smaller than tennis courts, is one of the main attractions of the centre [2].
Dhoni, who has a deep bond with Chennai, having represented the Chennai Super Kings for nearly 20 years, stated that the city has been special to him, as the city has given him support both on and off the field. He mentioned that padel is an exciting, addictive, inclusive sport that can be enjoyed by anyone, not just professionals [3].
At the inauguration of 7Padel, Dhoni was seen playing doubles in padel with Anirudh Ravichander, the music composer gearing up for the release of his upcoming film Coolie, scheduled for August 14 [4]. The release date of Coolie is the same as that of Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR's War 2.
Chennai Super Kings skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad was also present at the inauguration of 7Padel. However, there is no information about Dhoni replacing Gaikwad as CSK captain in 2025.
