Paddy Pimblett's Unbelievable Weight Gain After UFC 314 Victory

In a surprising turn of events, Liverpudlian MMA fighter Paddy Pimblett has ballooned up to almost light heavyweight limit post his victory against Michael Chandler! This wild transformation happened with a whopping 42 pounds gain after the UFC 314 bout.

Showcasing an extraordinary performance in Miami, Pimblett's third-round TKO victory sent shockwaves through the UFC lightweight arena, earning him a spot in the top 10 rankings. Immediately celebrating his victory at an extravagant yacht party and wavering to his infamous junk-food-fueled diets, Pimblett tipped the scales last Friday, weighing in at a controlled 156lbs. However, just eight days later, he's teetering on the edge of the light heavyweight limit (205lbs).

In an interview with Bruce Buffer’s IT'S TIME!!! podcast, Pimblett admitted, "On Sunday, I had about five milkshakes after the fight, literally." As of the morning after, Pimblett weighed in at a staggering 198lbs, only dropping slightly to 195lbs when returning to the UK from the States.

"I don't ever really touch 200lbs except when I'm in the States," said Pimblett, explaining the significant difference in his weight patterns between the UK and the States. He attributed the extreme weight gain to America's enormous portion sizes and liberal refills on beverages.

"Even the drinks. In the UK, if I go to a restaurant and I order a Coca-Cola, I just get that one Coca-Cola. In the States, when there is still some left of my Coca-Cola, they come over and give me a new one. Whatever is being offered, you take it," admitted Pimblett.

As we speak, Pimblett is starting to focus on paring down his weight to prepare for his upcoming career milestones. He's anticipated a Fight Night in October over in Abu Dhabi. The UFC has already scheduled a July 26th Fight Night in the United Arab Emirates capital, and discussions are underway for an autumn main show in the same location.

Post-fight, the eighth-ranked Pimblett boldly challenged anyone from the lightweight top five (Dustin Poirier, Max Holloway, Justin Gaethje, Charles Oliveira, Arman Tsarukyan) for a clash. At the moment, it appears that Charles Oliveira is the most likely candidate for the fight.

EXPERT INSIGHTS

  • Portion sizes in the U.S. tend to be twice as large as in the UK, and restaurants often offer refillable drinks. This can lead to increased calorie intake when eating out[4].
  • Pimblett tends to consume more when in the U.S., as larger portions make him feel "massive" compared to when he is in the UK[4].
