Ozzy Osbourne Reflects on Historic Black Sabbath Reunion and UK Ozzfest

Ozzy Osbourne recently sat down for an interview, where he discussed the historic Black Sabbath reunion in 1997 and the subsequent UK Ozzfest in 1998. The interviewer, who had a warm farewell with Ozzy, witnessed a brief moment of anger from the rock legend when discussing drummer Bill Ward's health.

The reunion of Black Sabbath's original line-up in December 1997 was a monumental event. After an 18-year hiatus, Tony Iommi, Ozzy Osbourne, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward came together for two shows at Birmingham's NEC Arena. The interviewer, who was present, described the gigs as the most joyous they had ever seen.

The interviewer had the opportunity to meet the band at the Monnow Valley studio in Wales before their Ozzfest appearance. Despite Ozzy's grumpiness due to recently quitting smoking and repetitive questions, he was cordial during the interview. Tony Iommi, known for his glowering appearance, was surprisingly friendly. Ozzy denied rumours that Vinny Appice was present at the NEC gigs as a replacement for Bill Ward, who he claimed was in good health. However, Bill Ward suffered a heart attack soon after the interview, contradicting Ozzy's statement.

The interviewer's journey back to London was eventful, with their car breaking down and arriving back as the sun was coming up.

The Black Sabbath reunion and subsequent UK Ozzfest were significant moments in rock history. Despite Ozzy's brief moment of anger and grumpiness, the interview provided insight into these historic events. Tragically, Bill Ward's health deteriorated soon after, casting a shadow over the joyous occasion.
