Stralsund's Ozeaneum Thrives in Wet Summer

Stralsund's Ozeaneum has seen an unprecedented surge in visitors recently, thanks to the unpredictable summer weather. Director Andreas Tanschus shared this joyous news on a recent Thursday, stressing that the museum experienced several exceptionally busy days in a row towards the end of July and beginning of August. The 7th of August even marked the second-busiest day since the museum's opening in 2008, with a whopping 8559 guests!

According to in-house records, the Ozeaneum welcomed over 565,000 visitors by November 2023. While the figures from 2022 did not fall too far behind, with more than half a million guests, the 2019 pre-pandemic year still holds the title of the most visited year.

By the coming summer, the Oceanographic Museum in Stralsund's ancient town quarter will regain its former glory, following extensive modernization and renovation work. The first half of the year will be spent filling display cases, testing aquariums, and moving animals into their fresh homes.

The museum operators have also announced an increase in prices as of 2024, citing the broader range of attractions. The price of admission for adults will now be 18 euros, with children's prices remaining the same at 8 euros and free admission for children under 4 years. People aged between 17 and 24, as well as seniors 66 and over, will benefit from a reduced price of 14 euros instead of 12 euros.
