Farming Aid on Time Despite Constitutional Court Ruling - Ozdemir's Assurance

In a fresh agricultural conference in Kiel, Germany, Federal Agriculture Minister Cem Ozdemir reassured farmers that their EU payments would be disbursed as scheduled, despite the Federal Constitutional Court's recent decision on special funds. Ozdemir emphasized that the direct payments from the federal government would not be affected by the budget freeze due to its non-integration with federal funds.

Despite the challenges posed by the court's ruling, the payment dates set for December 22nd and 27th would remain, provided the federal states supplied the required data. The minister highlighted the importance of continuing to develop a climate and environment-friendly agricultural sector, ensuring sustainable and secure harvests.

According to the conference chairman, Werner Schwarz, further "technical discussions" would follow, with no conclusive results at the time of the meeting. Last week, the Federal Constitutional Court invalidated the 60 billion euro loan reallocation, initially intended for climate protection and economic modernization.

Ozdemir underlined the necessity of transitioning agriculture towards sustainability and resilience, emphasizing the crucial role of a more eco-friendly and robust agricultural and food system.
