Oversight Committee Chairman demands access to Epstein documents and Clinton testimony

The House Oversight Committee, chaired by James Comer, has issued subpoenas on August 5, 2025, for depositions and records related to Jeffrey Epstein. The subpoenas have been sent to a wide array of individuals, including former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, as well as several former U.S. Attorneys General and former FBI Directors [2][1].

The subpoenas demand depositions from Bill and Hillary Clinton and other senior officials to testify about their knowledge or involvement connected with the Jeffrey Epstein case. They also request the release of records from the Department of Justice regarding Epstein, including communications involving President Biden or Biden administration officials relevant to Epstein's investigation [2].

To protect victim privacy, the subpoenas include provisions for redaction of names and personally identifiable information of victims, as well as any Child Sexual Abuse Material [2]. For instance, Robert Mueller, former FBI Director, has been subpoenaed to appear at a deposition on September 2, 2025, covering his tenure when the FBI investigated Epstein's sex crimes [1].

These subpoenas come after the Subcommittee on Federal Law Enforcement unanimously approved motions directing Chairman Comer to issue these subpoenas following recent investigations into charges that Epstein sexually exploited dozens of minor girls at various locations [1][2].

It's worth noting that Ghislaine Maxwell, a close associate of Epstein, was arrested and charged with sex trafficking during the first Trump administration in 2020.

The story is currently developing, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

The subpoenas issued by the House Oversight Committee, as covered by CNN and The Washington Post, demand depositions from Bill and Hillary Clinton, as part of the ongoing investigation into the Jeffrey Epstein case. This investigation is a part of the broader discussions around war-and-conflicts, policy-and-legislation, and politics, as it involves several high-profile individuals and is centered around the general-news topic of justice and accountability. Moreover, these subpoenas also request the release of records from the Department of Justice, which adds to the political discourse surrounding the Epstein case.
