Oversight Committee chair requests documents related to Epstein case and depositions involving the Clintons for review
In a significant development, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer has issued deposition subpoenas to former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, along with other notable figures such as former FBI directors and attorneys general. The subpoenas demand testimony related to Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes.
Comer has also subpoenaed the Department of Justice (DOJ) to release the complete records related to Epstein’s case. These actions follow a subcommittee vote in late July 2025 that approved subpoenas for these individuals and the DOJ.
The subpoenas for depositions specify that Bill and Hillary Clinton, alongside others involved in law enforcement and the justice system during Epstein’s investigations, are required to testify. The DOJ subpoena aims to secure release of all Epstein-related records held by the department. The motions were passed with bipartisan support on the subcommittee, and amended to include disclosure of communications involving President Biden and his administration concerning Epstein, with provisions to protect victims’ privacy and sensitive information.
The deposition date for at least some witnesses, such as former FBI Director Robert Mueller, is scheduled for September 2, 2025. This indicates that the Oversight Committee is actively moving forward with hearings and document reviews as part of its inquiry into Epstein's crimes and related government actions.
It is important to note that this report does not provide information about any alleged "client list" related to Epstein. The Justice Department and FBI have stated that no such list exists.
This report also does not provide information about any actions or statements made by the Clinton family or the current or previous administrations regarding the Epstein case, beyond the subpoenas issued by the House Oversight Committee.
