Russian forces have been targeting key railway junctions in Ukraine, causing disruptions to the stable operation of transportation in various regions. The attacks, which have been ongoing since August, involve drone attacks on crucial stations such as Lozova, Synelnykovo, and Kozyatyn, among others.

In a statement on Facebook, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Oleksii Kuleba confirmed these attacks. Oleksandr Pertsovskyi, head of Ukrainian Railways, also confirmed another complex attack on the country's railways. According to Pertsovskyi, the enemy is systematically attacking railway stations in such a way that they are effectively destroyed.

Some 20 trains were in transit during the attacks, resulting in 26 trains being delayed in the Dnipro and Odesa regions. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Passengers on board trains affected by the strikes may face delays and discomfort due to the strikes. In some cases, passengers were stuck for over five hours.

The attacks on these key stations are part of a broader strategy by the Russian army to disrupt Ukraine's civilian and cargo transportation. The attacks target power substations, locomotive depots, and passenger stations, with the aim of destroying hub stations across the country.

The disruption of this crucial transportation artery could have far-reaching consequences for Ukraine's economy and its ability to maintain connections with its European partners.

It is important to note that Russian forces first attacked major railway hubs in Ukraine in early 2022 during their initial large-scale invasion. These attacks, which used cruise and ballistic missiles as well as drones, primarily targeted critical infrastructure such as stations in Zhmerynka, Fastiv, and Kherson. However, the very first drone attack is not explicitly recorded in current search results.

Ukrainian Railways has not reported the number of trains affected by these attacks, but it is likely that some were in transit during the attacks. The attacks on these stations have not been reported to have caused any injuries, but they have disrupted the stable operation of transportation in various regions of Ukraine.

The Russian army has been targeting railway infrastructure in Ukraine since August, aiming to destroy key junctions. The disruption of these vital transportation networks is a clear example of the ongoing conflict's impact on Ukraine's civilian population and its ability to maintain connections with the rest of the world.
