In a significant move, Russia's maximum-security prison, Lefortovo, located in the heart of Moscow, has been equipped with an artificial intelligence (AI) system designed to monitor inmates and staff for potential security threats. This marks the first use of such technology in Russia's penal system.

The AI system, developed by a Russian technology company, is equipped with facial recognition technology and is capable of identifying, tracking, and monitoring individuals, objects, and movements within the prison. This cutting-edge technology is expected to improve the efficiency and security of the prison.

However, the installation of the AI system has sparked controversy, with concerns raised about privacy and potential misuse of the technology. The AI system in Lefortovo prison is part of a larger project to modernize Russia's penal system.

Meanwhile, in a separate development, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced the destruction of two Ukrainian UAVs over the Kursk region. According to the Ministry, these UAVs were fixed-wing type drones among a larger attack in which 54 Ukrainian drones were downed across various Russian regions, including Kursk. The Ministry attributed the destruction of these UAVs to their air defenses' successful countermeasures and did not report any casualties or damages from the attack.

Elsewhere, weightlifter Vagaev set a new Russian record in the snatch in the over 109kg category, but the event or competition where this feat was achieved was not specified.

In other news, the KHL Club "Shanghai Dragons" plans to return to China within two years. The reasons for their departure and their current location were not mentioned.

Finally, no information about any ban on irregular bus routes to Russia and Belarus was provided in this article.
