Over four in ten support immediate, unconditional acceptance of refugees from Moria camp
Germany's stance on taking in refugees from Moria, revisited
*(DTS News Agency) - Four in ten eligible voters (43%) firmly believe Germany should wholeheartedly welcome refugees from Moria, as per a survey conducted by polling institute Infratest for ARD-"Deutschlandtrend". On the flip side, 44% think these refugees should be accepted only if the European Union countries come to a consensus on a pan-EU distribution of those seeking asylum.
One tenth of respondents are firmly against welcoming refugees from Moria. Prominent supporters of the Green Party and The Left veer towards unconditional acceptance, while those backing Union parties favor acceptance as part of a European solution. The SPD and FDP voter base is split on the issue. Most astonishingly, even half of AfD supporters would back the acceptance of refugees from Moria within an EU framework. Yet, 40% of AfD supporters remained adamantly opposed. The survey, conducted on September 15 and 16, questioned a total of 1,051 people.

A sneak peek into party supporters' views
Here's a glimpse into the general perspectives of German political parties, not specifically regarding Moria but providing a broader context:
Partisan Expectations
Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and Christian Social Union (CSU)
- Known for their more conservative stance on immigration, they often advocate for tighter border controls and integration efforts.
- Their supporters might prioritize maintaining public safety and controlling immigration flows.
Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD)
- Supporters generally back a compassionate approach to refugees, highlighting the need for humanitarian aid and integration opportunities.
- They might view welcoming refugees as a moral obligation and a chance to foster social cohesion.
Green Party
- These advocates emphasize human rights and environmental protection, normally supporting inclusive refugee policies centering on sustainable integration and aid.
- They often stress the importance of addressing the root causes of migration and ensuring fair treatment for asylum seekers.
Alternative for Germany (AfD)
- With strong anti-immigration views, they often push for stricter border controls and limited asylum rights.
- Their supporters typically resist the idea of welcoming more refugees, citing concerns about public safety, financial strain, and cultural identity.
Left Party
- These partisans often advocate for progressive immigration policies, championing the rights of refugees and asylum seekers.
- They might emphasize the need to adopt a more inclusive and humane approach to immigration, focusing on social justice and solidarity.
- As the political landscape in Germany becomes more defined, it's evident that the views on policy-and-legislation regarding refugees, such as those from Moria, vary among party supporters.
- The debate on other policy-and-legislation issues, like politics and general-news, also reflects these divisions, with each party favoring different approaches based on their ideologies.
