Stranded Russian Tourists in Turkey: A Chaotic Situation

Over a thousand Russian nationals continue to reside in Turkey, a result of flight suspensions to Moscow.

Over 1,500 Russian tourists are trapped in Turkey, unable to return to Moscow due to canceled flights. According to reports from the SHOT Telegram channel, this predicament is due to flights being pulled by Turkish Airlines and Pegasus Airlines.

The unfortunate passengers have been temporarily relocated to the "Club Hotel Sera," where they're being well-taken care of. However, the return dates to Russia remain uncertain.

Earlier, we shared news of over 30 flights being delayed on May 7 at Sochi Airport[1]. The disruption was caused by restrictions imposed due to the air defense system actively repelling drone attacks, leading to the accumulation of aircraft.

The situation seems to be extremely complex and chaotic, with numerous passengers stranded and flights delayed, further compounded by other unrelated incidents such as a recent bus accident involving Russian tourists in Turkey[3].

The predicament has raised questions and concerns about the challenges faced by Russian tourists in Turkey due to these unanticipated disruptions. However, it’s essential to note that the Russian tour operators are working diligently to address the issues faced by the stranded tourists[4].
