Mind-Blowing Casualties: Russia's Million Man Slaughter in Ukraine
Over a million Russian soldiers allegedly perished in according to Ukraine's latest report.
Let's get straight to it, mate! The Ukrainian forces have been ruthlessly battling the Russian army, and their daily kill reports have been nothing short of shocking. Originally, they were reporting over 2,000 eliminated Russian soldiers per day, but now it's more like 1,000. Over the entire duration of the conflict, Ukraine claims that over one million Russian soldiers have met their demise.
The Ukrainian National Guard proudly announced, "1,000,000 liquidated occupiers. It's not a number that matters, but a symbol, proof of the unyielding Ukrainian spirit." These numbers, while daunting, aren't entirely accurate without considering the wounded soldiers.
Similarly, the reported losses of eliminated tanks and vehicles may include both destroyed and damaged military equipment. But remember, these figures can't be independently verified, so take them with a grain of salt.
That being said, reports from Western partners, like the British Ministry of Defence, have often come close to these numbers. They estimate that Russia has likely suffered around one million dead and wounded fighters. London calculates that the combat losses, including deaths, missing, and severe injuries, are between 400,000 to 500,000.
On the other side of the battlefield, estimates for Ukrainian casualties range from 60,000 to 100,000 dead soldiers, with roughly 400,000 wounded. president Zelenskyy predicted that by December 2024, the number of killed Ukrainian soldiers would reach 43,000, with over 370,000 wounded.
Some of these severe casualties might lead to wounded soldiers returning to the battlefield. And, as unsettling as it is, reports suggest that even severely wounded Russian fighters are being forced into attacks by their commanders.
Despite the high risk, Russia claims to be recruiting tens of thousands of soldiers monthly, offering hefty bonuses as an incentive. But recent calculations by the independent Russian media outlet Vazhnye Istorii suggest that the recruitment pace has slowed down in spring 2025.
Meanwhile, by the end of 2024, it's said that there were fewer volunteers signing up for war than in the previous year. Yet, the fourth quarter of 2024 was quite intense with recruitment, with around 1,700 people joining the ranks per day. Overall, it's believed that around 400,000 people signed up for the war against Ukraine throughout 2024.
