Over 80 million fresh installments set for Wednesday release

The second season of the popular Netflix series "Wednesday," starring Jenna Ortega as the iconic character from the Addams Family, has made a strong debut. With Steve Buscemi joining the cast as the ambitious headmaster and Christopher Lloyd reprising his role as Uncle Fester, the series continues to captivate audiences.

Part one of the second season, consisting of episodes 1 to 4, was released on August 6 and managed to garner an impressive 50 million views within its first six days, making it the second-highest viewing number in a single week on Netflix, just behind the first season of the series[1]. However, some reports suggest that Part 1 viewership for Season 2 is significantly lower compared to the record-setting debut season in 2022[2].

Despite the comparative performance, the second season is still considered a hit. The series follows Wednesday Addams' time at Nevermore Academy, a school for outsiders with special abilities. In the first eleven days, Netflix registered 79.1 million views for the four episodes of the second season.

The second season of the Addams Family spin-off series is directed by Tim Burton, known for his dark, gothic style that perfectly complements the series' tone. Luis Guzmán portrays Gomez Addams, Catherine Zeta-Jones plays Morticia Addams, and Joanna Lumley joins the cast as Wednesday's wealthy, sharp-tongued grandmother Hester Frump. Christopher Lloyd also appears in the series, this time as Professor Orloff.

Jenna Ortega's portrayal of Wednesday Addams has been critically acclaimed, with the actress winning two awards for Best Actress in the Golden Globes and the Emmys. The series has quickly become a global pop culture phenomenon, continuing the Addams Family tradition and captivating a new generation.

In a twist of fate, the Addams Family first appeared in a cartoon in "The New Yorker" magazine 87 years ago. The second season of "Wednesday" is currently available on Netflix, with Part 2 (episodes 5 to 8) set to follow on September 3. A third season of "Wednesday" has already been confirmed, promising more adventures for Wednesday Addams and her unique circle of friends.
