World Cup Fever: Over 4.5 Million Applications for 2026 FIFA World Cup Tickets

The upcoming FIFA World Cup, set to be held in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, is shaping up to be a highly sought-after event, with over 4.5 million fans applying for the pre-sale draw of tickets.

The majority of applications for the pre-sale have come from residents of the three host countries. However, it's not just North American fans who are eager to attend the tournament. Fans from Germany have submitted the second-highest number of applications, making them the most enthusiastic non-resident applicants. Germany ranks fourth in the number of applications, ahead of England.

FIFA sponsor, Visa, has exclusive rights in the first phase of ticket sales. Registration for this phase was only possible with a Visa card. The applications were received from 216 countries, underscoring the global appeal of the World Cup.

The registration phase for the early ticket draw starts on October 27. Successful applicants will be assigned a date and time window for ticket purchase, if available, after the draw. Sales for the early ticket draw will take place between mid-November and early December.

In phase three, fans can also apply for specific matches. This phase begins after the group draw, which takes place on December 5 in Washington.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has expressed his delight at the high level of interest in the World Cup. He stated, "This is an outstanding result, and it's also a strong signal." He also commented, "North America will be 'a unique stage for the whole world'." Infantino further added, "The whole world wants to be part of the first-ever expanded 48-team World Cup."

It's important to note that a draw does not guarantee ticket availability in the respective time window. Also, there are data privacy considerations to be aware of. Glomex GmbH, a company that can store or retrieve information on your device and collect and process your personal data with your consent, may be involved in the ticket sales process. They operate in countries outside the EU with a lower level of data protection.

As the excitement builds for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, fans from around the globe are eagerly awaiting the opportunity to secure their tickets to what promises to be a historic event.
