Over 2,000 security personnel set for 'Duaw' event deployment

The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) has announced that approximately 2,600 officers will be deployed during the Duaw Davao Festival, scheduled from June 5 to 29, 2025, to maintain public safety and order.

At a press conference addressing peace and security matters on May 28, 2025, DCPO spokesperson Police Captain Hazel Tuazon affirmed that the festival's security plan is already in place. She stated that the police force is currently finalizing the allocation of personnel to various activity venues across the city.

The security measures are being prepared to ensure all event areas are adequately secured. A final coordination meeting between the DCPO and the Davao City Tourism Office (DCTO) is expected in the near future to finalize deployment and event details.

The Duaw Davao Festival is set to commence on June 5 at Rizal Park, initiating a series of cultural events, community activities, and tourism initiatives over the course of the month. Festival organizers assure that heightened security measures will be implemented to ensure attendees' safety.

Tuazon continued by stating that Davao City remains stable in terms of peace and order, and the local police force is dedicated to maintaining this harmony throughout the festival's duration. She declared that the festival would prove to be an enjoyable and safe experience for all.

In addition to the security plan, the City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) has revealed multiple additions to this year's festival lineup, such as the "Definitely Davao: Tsokolate ug Kape Crawl" and the "Definitely Davao City Tour."

The Tsokolate ug Kape Crawl is scheduled to launch alongside the celebration of National Cacao Month, showcasing the city's rich flavors and thriving artisan scene with 15 coffee shops and 10 chocolate establishments. Additionally, the "Reyna ng Davao" pageant – celebrating Davao's empowered LGBTQ+ community – will continue as a highlight of the festival.

Davao City officials, including representatives from the DCPO and CTOO, have confirmed that all events will be conducted with strict security protocols, in accordance with the city's commitment to preserving peace, safety, and cultural pride.

At the final coordination meeting, the Davao City Police Office and Tourism Office will discuss the exact deployment of officers to ensure security during the sports events and cultural activitiesat the Duaw Davao Festival in Rizal Park. In line with their dedication to maintaining harmony, officers from the Davao City Police Office will ensure a safe and enjoyable sports-filled festival experience for attendees throughout the festival from June 5 to 29, 2025.
