Over 140 individuals have publicly condemned Mohamed Al-Fayed's alleged transgressions.

In September of an unspecified year, the BBC aired an investigation that brought to light numerous sexual assault and harassment allegations against Mohamed Al-Fayed, the former owner of Harrods. Al-Fayed passed away in 2023 at the age of 94, and as of August 2025, he has not been found guilty of these allegations[1][5].

The new police investigation, opened last year, reviews the previous handling of the case and explores new claims of sexual assault linked to Al-Fayed during his ownership of Harrods (1985–2010)[1]. Over 100 alleged victims have applied for a Harrods compensation scheme set up for those employed at or connected to the store who allege abuse by Al-Fayed[1].

Scotland Yard is also investigating potential corruption within the police force, including allegations that police officers were incentivized to assist Al-Fayed, raising concerns over institutional failures[2].

The Metropolitan Police in London has reopened the investigation into Al-Fayed, and Scotland Yard is currently examining how previous investigations were handled to identify "missed opportunities." The investigation is ongoing[3].

Harrods announced a compensation program for women who worked at the store or were connected to it and claim to have been victims of abuse by the former boss[4]. The compensation program was announced in March.

The investigation was sparked by allegations of sexual assault and harassment made against Al-Fayed by several young female employees at Harrods. The Metropolitan Police has identified 90 potential victims of sexual assault and other crimes committed by Al-Fayed[1].

The ongoing investigation centers around individuals who may have facilitated or enabled the criminal activities of Al-Fayed. As of July, the number of presumed victims applying to the compensation program is increasing over time[1].

Mohamed Al-Fayed's family, including his son, have publicly responded expressing distress at the allegations but no legal verdict has been reached against him[3]. The investigations continue in search of justice for the alleged victims.
