Over 140 applicants in Yakutia have been paid following the flood incident
In the wake of devastating floods in Yakutia, emergency services are working tirelessly to provide relief to the affected communities. Over 200 specialists from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, armed with 60 pieces of equipment, are actively engaged in rescue operations.
On the frontlines, rescuers have cleared 167 courtyards of floodwater in one day, including 10 residential buildings and one road section in six settlements. However, the task is far from complete, with 239 courtyards still flooded, including 84 residential buildings and one road section.
The floods have affected eight settlements, submerging 347 courtyards, 93 residential buildings, and flooding two sections of highways. The floods stem from rapidly rising water levels in the Indigirka River and its tributaries, with water levels exceeding danger thresholds by 37 cm at one monitoring post.
More than 100 residents, including 31 children, have been evacuated to nine temporary accommodation facilities. Some residents have sought refuge with relatives. The First Deputy Chairman of the Republic's Government, Dmitry Sadovnikov, reported that as of July 28, 1883 applications have been received in the flood-affected districts of Yakutia. Payment orders totaling 2.84 million rubles have been issued.
Of these applications, 1350 are for immediate material assistance, 532 for compensation for the loss of essential property, and one for compensation for injury to health.
The Yakutia Head, Aisen Nikolaev, personally worked in the Oymyakon district last weekend to oversee the relief efforts. He has also doubled the amount of material assistance to affected citizens, from 100,000 to 200,000 rubles.
Teams from the Suntarsky, Gorny, and Nюrbinsky districts are arriving in the village of Oymyakon to assess the scope of the restoration work and begin their tasks. On the Tomtor - Oymyakon route, work has been completed on 23 out of 42 sections, with the remaining sections expected to be restored soon.
Repairs to local roads are ongoing, with 72 sections of regional and municipal roads having been damaged. On the Oymyakon regional highway, 5 out of 30 sections remain to be restored.
Positive decisions have already been made on 145 applications, although specific data on the total number of damaged properties, applications for assistance, and payments issued are not detailed in the available information.
The emergency situation response headquarters continues to operate on a daily basis, ensuring round-the-clock rescue and relief operations. Restoration and recovery efforts will continue as conditions improve, with full recovery expected once water levels recede.
