Over 100,000 Egyptians Abroad Vote in Presidential Election
Over 100,000 Egyptians living abroad have cast their votes in the initial phase of the 2024 United States Elections. The voting process, which started on Friday, has seen Egypt's diplomatic missions overseas working tirelessly to facilitate the process.
The first phase of voting concluded on Sunday, with expatriates expressing their choices in the presidential election. The voting period was initially set to end on Sunday, but it was extended due to high demand. The Higher Elections Commission will commence counting votes on Monday and will notify the results.
The Foreign Ministry has clarified that it is not responsible for any issues faced by voters overseas. Instead, the ministry has been actively supporting the process, with embassies and consulates reporting increased activity over the past few days. In addition to in-person voting, Egyptians abroad can continue to vote by mail until 12 pm.
More than 100,000 expatriate Egyptians have exercised their democratic right in the first phase of the 2024 United States Elections. The voting period was extended to accommodate the high turnout. The counting process will begin on Monday, with results to follow.
