Outdoor Theatrical Shows over the Season
The Teatro Municipal de Bragança sets the stage for an enriching summer cultural season, offering an array of performances from May to July.
Director João Cristiano Cunha plans to connect with a wider audience, in particular those traditionally hesitant to attend theatre, by delivering meaningful and engaging cultural experiences. A key initiative, O Artista Vai a Escola, will see artists performing in local schools, while events such as Em Forma de Pera will be held in unique venues like the Church of Saõ Francisco, featuring a concert led by mandolinist David Rodrigues and harpsichordist Tadeu Filipe on June 29, promising an eclectic musical excursion through the works of Scarlatti, Vivaldi, and Beethoven.
The Música na Paisagem series will kick off earlier than usual on June 14 and 15 in the Montesinho Natural Park, featuring performances by local residents Matilde Loureiro on violin and pianist Jun Boutery-Ishido, who will interpret pieces by Bach, Haydn, and Batók.
The summer lineup includes school theatre groups, Bragança's Conservatory of Music and Dance, and the Coral Brigantino. Major productions include the Queen tribute show Remember Queen in June and A Casa dos Pais, starring Albano Jerónimo, in July.
National acts such as Samuel Úria (July 9) and Barcelona Flamenco Ballet's interpretation of Carmen (July 12) augment the season, and the Gulbenkian Orchestra will make its debut in Bragança on July 18.
With prices ranging from 2€ to 11€, 29 events are scheduled across 53 sessions. Notably, the theater reached an impressive 92.8% occupancy rate in early 2025.
Tickets for most events can be purchased through FNAC and may include discounts or special offers, such as 1€ off per ticket for cardholders, subject to promoter approval. Ticket holders can also opt for insurance for a small additional fee. Advance booking is advisable, particularly for popular shows.
