Outdoor theatre production "Shakespeare in the Park" brings "The Twelfth Night" back for summer's theatrical extravaganza.
New York City's beloved summer tradition, Shakespeare in the Park, returns for its 63rd season this August. For six weeks, starting from August 7, 2025 to September 14, 2025, the acclaimed theatrical event will once again grace the Delacorte Theater in Central Park.
Originally established by Joseph Papp in 1962, this free, large-scale production of William Shakespeare's works aims to bring joy to residents and visitors alike. The Delacorte Theater, which underwent historical renovations last year, will now resume its role as the event's permanent venue.
The 2025 season will showcase Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, a tale of two twins, Sebastian and Viola, separated after a shipwreck. The production will be directed by Tony Award nominee Saheem Ali and will star an esteemed ensemble including Bill Camp, Khris Davis, Junior Nyong'o, Lupita Nyong'o, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Moses Sumney, Peter Dinklage, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and Sandra Oh.
The Delacorte Theater is easily accessible via the B, C, and 6 subway lines, as well as several bus routes, including M2, M3, M4, M10, and M79. Entrances to Central Park can be found between 81st Street and Central Park West or between 79th Street and 5th Avenue.
For those planning to attend Shakespeare in the Park, free tickets can be obtained through several in-person pick-up points, the TodayTix digital lottery, and a standby line in Central Park on the day of performances. More information on the 2025 season is available on the Public Theater's website.
In a separate development, the NY Classical Theatre is also planning to present ‘All’s Well That Ends Well’ in Central Park in 2025; however, this production is not part of the Public Theater’s official Shakespeare in the Park series at the Delacorte Theater.
As a bonus, Fifth Avenue becomes car-free in June for the annual Museum Mile Festival, offering free access to New York's most important museums.
Experience the fusion of lifestyle, entertainment, and culture as New York City's beloved summer tradition, Shakespeare in the Park, returns with Tony Award nominee Saheem Ali's interpretation of Twelfth Night, starring an esteemed ensemble. Secure your free tickets via in-person pick-up points, the TodayTix digital lottery, or the standby line in Central Park to enjoy this captivating theatrical event at the easily accessible Delacorte Theater, where tickets are the passport to a memorable night under the stars.
