Outcome of the International Assembly Gathering on July 23, 2025
In a recent development, the School Committee of Nordhorn has resolved to expand the Grundschule Stadtflur into a four-winged primary school, as reported in a resolution on June 17. This expansion is set to include a school library that can double as a differentiation room, and a structural and organizational solution for the care situation in the fifth hour will be developed in close coordination with the school.
The city of Nordhorn is also taking on several other tasks as per the decisions made by various committees. The Administrative Committee (AC), a committee prescribed by municipal law, has been commissioned to prepare an expert opinion on the collection of development contributions, following an application from the SPD/Green/Left group. The details of the expert opinion, however, have not been explicitly named in the search results.
Meanwhile, the City Development Committee has adopted an alternative resolution proposal by Councilor Pfundheller for the construction of a public toilet facility in the Blank district of the city. The committee has also decided on several other topics, including changes to various land use plans and building plans, as detailed in the protocol of the City Development Committee of June 20.
The AC, which usually meets every two weeks, is responsible for preparing the decisions of the council and has its own decision-making powers, as defined in the Municipal Constitution Act. The AC held its mandatory summer vacation meeting on July 23, 2025.
In other news, the city of Nordhorn has been tasked with informing all affected residents about unaccounted-for development roads, specifically those who have not yet paid the initial development charges. An overview map showing which streets have already been billed and which have not will be displayed on the city's homepage at all times to allow for information viewing in case of a change of ownership.
The construction of a stage between the market square and the city harbor was presented in the last Culture Committee. When planning the cafeteria, a stage should be considered to enable multifunctional use, for example for school events.
Lastly, the topic "Former Post Site, Departure from the Purchase Agreement" was decided according to the resolution in the specialist committee. The details of this decision are available in the protocol of the School Committee, which can be read here. The top item requested by the SPD/Greens/Left group remained as originally decided. The protocols of the committees are not publicly accessible in the council information system, but the results are not fundamentally secret.
