our website names Ullmark second star of week
Ottawa Senators goaltender Linus Ullmark has been named a star of the week for the second time this season. His recent performances have extended an impressive winning streak, now at four consecutive games. The run began after he debuted a new Norse mythology-themed mask on December 11.
Ullmark’s latest recognition follows his earlier selection as third star in December 2023. That honour came after he secured three wins, including his first shutout of the season. His shutout against Pittsburgh also delayed Sidney Crosby’s attempt to break the Penguins’ franchise scoring record.
The Swedish netminder holds a perfect 7-0-0 career record against Crosby and the Penguins. He also remains undefeated in regulation against his former team, the Boston Bruins, since joining Ottawa.
Ullmark’s recent success aligns with the Senators scoring first in all four of his latest victories. His new mask, painted by renowned artist Dave Gunnarsson (DaveArt), features a dragon design requested by Ullmark’s son, Harry. The white road-game mask includes Norse carving motifs, building on a blue dragon concept Gunnarsson first created for Ullmark during the 4 Nations Faceoff in February.
Ullmark is the third Senator this season to earn star-of-the-week honours, following Shane Pinto and Drake Batherson. His strong form has helped Ottawa gain momentum in recent games. Fans can follow the team’s updates on X at @Senators or visit ottawasenators.com for more details.
