Ottawa Teen Wins Four Gold Medals at U17 Olympic Hopes Regatta

Madeleine Beauregard, a 17-year-old canoe-kayak athlete from Ottawa, has secured four gold medals at the U17 Olympic Hopes Regatta in Czechia. The Rideau Canoe Club member is now regarded as one of the city’s most talented young paddlers, with a future that extends beyond sports into academia.

Beauregard first discovered paddling nine years ago through a summer program at the Rideau Canoe Club. Since then, she has balanced her canoe-kayak career with competitions in cross-country skiing, circus aerials, and swimming.

Beauregard’s four gold medals at the U17 Olympic Hopes Regatta mark a high point in her young career. With plans to study health science and a track record of success in multiple sports, she continues to set an example for aspiring athletes. Her coaches, teammates, and local officials have all acknowledged her determination and skill.
