ÖSV's Florian Phleps to Depart, Leaving Big Shoes to Fill

Florian Phleps, the man who led the ÖSV's corporate services and project management since 2022, has announced his departure by the end of January 2026. Phleps, who successfully headed the Ski World Championships in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, plans to return to the tourism sector after leaving the ski association.

Phleps' departure leaves the ÖSV with a significant void to fill, as he was instrumental in the structural reform following the tenure of long-time president Peter Schrocksnadel. The ski association must now find a new manager to oversee future major news events, including the Snowboard and Freestyle World Cup in Montafon in 2027 and the Biathlon World Cup in Hochfilzen in 2028.

Phleps' final project with the ÖSV was the Ski World Championships in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, which set new standards with an impressive 175,000 visitors and seven medals for Austria. Phleps, who served as the project leader, believes it was the most comprehensive news event ever held.

With Phleps' departure, the ÖSV faces the task of finding a suitable replacement to lead its corporate services and project management department. The new leader will have big shoes to fill, following Phleps' successful tenure and the remarkable achievements of the Ski World Championships under his leadership.
