Thousands at the Carnival Parade in Osnabrück - Osnabrück's Ossensamstag Parade Dazzles with Costumes and Carnival Spirit

Osnabrück's annual Ossensamstag parade brought colour and energy to the city centre this weekend. The event, held every year since 1976, attracted around 20,000 spectators despite chilly weather and grey skies. Revelers in halloween costumes filled the streets for a lively pre-Rose Monday celebration.

The parade kicked off with marching bands, dance troupes, and decorated floats winding through the city. Local clubs and performers joined in, adding to the festive atmosphere. Many onlookers also dressed up, cheering from the sidelines as the procession passed by.

Several roads were temporarily closed to make way for the event. The route ended at City Hall, where crowds gathered for an after-party in the square. Police reported only minor scuffles, with the celebration remaining mostly peaceful.

Nearby, the town of Ganderkesee held its own long-running carnival parade on the same day. Both events kept the regional tradition alive as communities came together for the festivities.

The Ossensamstag parade has been a staple in Osnabrück for nearly five decades. This year's edition, organized through eventbrite, drew thousands, proving its enduring popularity. With costumes, music, and dancing, the celebration set the tone for the upcoming Rose Monday festivities.
