Oscars 2026 propel KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack back to US chart dominance
The 98th Academy Awards gave a major boost to KPop Demon Hunters, the 2025 Netflix animated film. It took home Best Animated Feature, while its hit song Golden won Best Original Song. The Oscars win has since pushed the film's music back into the US charts.
Since the ceremony on 15 March 2026, the soundtrack has climbed higher on the Billboard rankings, extending its long-running success. Before the Oscars, Golden had already made waves in Europe. It topped Germany's charts nine times and was named the summer hit of 2025. After the awards, the song surged to No. 5 on the US Billboard Hot 100, marking its 39th consecutive week on the chart.
The full KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack also saw a rise, reaching No. 10 on the Billboard 200. This extended its chart presence to 39 weeks, matching the song's own streak. Meanwhile, other K-pop acts experienced shifts in the rankings: Blackpink's Deadline dropped from No. 41 to No. 98, while Enhypen's The Sin: Vanish held at No. 43.
Elsewhere, boy band P1Harmony achieved their best US chart position yet. Their ninth EP, Unique, debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200. Girl group Katseye's Beautiful Chaos also appeared on the list at No. 96. The Oscars win has kept KPop Demon Hunters in the spotlight, driving its soundtrack back up the charts. Golden remains a standout, with no new reports on its international performance since the awards. The film's music continues to hold strong after nearly a year in circulation.
