Two weeks ago, Defense Minister Pistorius from the SPD and his Ukrainian counterpart, Umerov, inked a heavy-hitting deal in Berlin concerning the funding of advanced Ukrainian weapons. Now, on his visit to Kyiv, the SPD politico is locked in discussions about additional support.

Pistorius, taking a hard stance upon his arrival in Kyiv, lashed out against the escalating Russian airstrikes, branding them as "bloody ambitious and hazardous with the ludicrous amount of cruise missiles and drone attacks."

His journey demonstrates the new federal government's unwavering support for Ukraine. Pistorius declared, "Obviously, it's about shaping Germany's and other Europe's assistance to Ukraine in the future. What we can do, for instance, in the industrial cooperation arena, but also in other forms of assistance."

"The Russian military plans are fixated on this region - Odessa - and then the border zones with Moldova and Romania," explained Zelenskyy at a summit with the heads of state and government from Southeast Europe in Odessa. Russia, Zelenskyy claims, intends to sow chaos in the region with the aim of undermining Europe overall.

Soon after the start of Russia’s invasion, Rustam Minnekayev, a prominent general in Moscow, declared the control of southern Ukraine, as well as the land route leading to the secessionist region of Transnistria, as war objectives. To date, the Kremlin has declined to comment on this.
