Organist Giampaolo Di Rosa set for performance on Bach's organ instrument
On Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 12:00 PM, the Ingolstadt Liebfrauen Cathedral will host a special concert as part of the 'Saturday Organ' series. The artist performing is none other than the globally recognized musician, Giampaolo Di Rosa.
Giampaolo Di Rosa, an accomplished pianist, organist, harpsichordist, composer, improviser, researcher, and lecturer, has a prestigious musical background. He studied in Paris under Jean Guillou and earned a doctorate from the University of Aveiro in Portugal. His comprehensive musical education also includes studies in Rome, Naples, and Würzburg, where he earned seven diplomas, including a master's degree in organ and a doctorate with distinction.
In 2008, Giampaolo Di Rosa was appointed titular organist of the National Portuguese Church of S. Antonio in Rome. His artistic career is marked by international concert tours and cyclic performances of complete works, such as all of Mozart's piano sonatas, Bach's and Sweelinck's organ works. In 2010, he was appointed Officer of the Order of Prince Henry by the Portuguese President.
The concert on September 20 will focus on the works of Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750). The performance will include an arrangement for organ of the English Suite in A minor, BWV 807, featuring movements like Prélude, Allemande, Courante, Sarabande, Les agréments de la même sarabande, Bourrée I & II, and Gigue. Giampaolo Di Rosa will also play the six-voice ricercar from Musical Offering, BWV 1079, considered one of Bach's most challenging and artful fugues. Additionally, he will perform an expressive chorale prelude, Fantasia super 'Komm, Heiliger Geist', BWV 651, which counts among the famous Leipzig chorales.
The concert will take place at the Ingolstadt Liebfrauen Cathedral, as part of the 'Saturday Organ' series. The event is organized by the Association of Friends of Music at the Cathedral e.V., an organization responsible for the Saturday Organ concerts.
Admission to the concert will cost 5 Euro (cash only), 2 Euro for students, and is free for children. For more information and the complete program, visit www.samstagorgel.de. The concert is supported by dedicated volunteers.
We look forward to an enchanting afternoon of music with Giampaolo Di Rosa at the Ingolstadt Liebfrauen Cathedral on September 20, 2025.
