ORF's 'Hunyadi - Rise to Power' Kicks Off With Star-Studded Medieval Drama

The ORF event series 'Hunyadi - Rise to Power' kicked off on April 21, offering viewers a thrilling journey through medieval Europe. This opulent production, directed by Robert Dornhelm and Tobi Baumann, is based on the historical novels of Mór Jókai and boasts an impressive cast.

The series follows the life of János Hunyadi, portrayed by young star Gellért L. Kádár, from his childhood to his rise as a powerful warlord and governor of Hungary. Alongside Kádár, the series features Austrian stars like Cornelius Obonya, Murathan Muslu, and Laurence Rupp, as well as international series heroes.

Spanning 10 episodes, 'Hunyadi - Rise to Power' is brutal, bloody, and lustful, filled with power struggles, intrigue, and love. It traces Hunyadi's lifelong struggle against the Ottoman Empire and his enemies in his own country, culminating in his decisive victory at the siege of Nándorfehérvár. The series was filmed with a budget of 58 million euros, involving over 600 actors and almost 100 horses over 174 shooting days.
