"Orchestral vacation to the Alps and seashore - Bremen Philharmonic Orchestra's festival journey on 28th and 29th October"
The Bremen Philharmonic is set to embark on a musical journey with their 2nd Philharmonic Concert titled "Festive Journey". This exciting event will take place on October 28 and 29, 2024, at the Konzerthaus Glocke, located at Domsheide 4/5, 28195 Bremen.
The concert programme promises an enchanting blend of timeless classics. The evening will begin with Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy's Overture "Calm Sea and Prosperous Voyage", a piece inspired by two poems of the same name by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. This work, written in 1828, describes nature's forces in a smaller but no less impressive way.
Following Mendelssohn's captivating overture, pianist Nathalia Milstein will make her debut with the Bremen Philharmonic, interpreting Dmitri Shostakovich's Piano Concerto No. 2. This work stands in stark contrast to Shostakovich's tragic symphonies No. 10 and 11, which he wrote almost simultaneously in the mid-1950s. Notably, Shostakovich's second piano concerto is one of his most popular works and has been used as film music, such as in Steven Spielberg's "Bridge of Spies" in 2015.
The concert will conclude with Richard Strauss's Alpine Symphony, Symphonic poem op. 64. This grand work, composed by Strauss (1864-1949), includes a wide range of instruments, including a thunder sheet and wind machine. The music magazine "Signale für die musikalische Welt" recommended snow goggles for concert-goers of Strauss's Alpine Symphony in 1915, a testament to its immersive and evocative nature.
Tickets for this unforgettable concert can be purchased online at www.bremerphilharmoniker.de, www.glocke.de, www.nordwest-ticket.de, and www.eventim.de, or at their advance booking locations and at the box office. Ticket prices range from 19 to 56 euros (reduced 9.50 and 45 euros).
We look forward to welcoming you to the Konzerthaus Glocke for this extraordinary musical journey!
