During a plenary session, Chidi Obetta, who represents Nsukka/Igbpeze South federal constituency, announced his decision to leave Labor Party at the Green Chambers. Both cited the national leadership tussle within the Labor Party as the reasons behind their departure.

Not long ago, Enugu State Chairman, Martins Chukwunweike, had hinted at the possibility of increased defections from the Labor Party to the PDP. When receiving Mamah and Odoh, Chukwunweike predicted that the party would welcome not less than four Labor Party representatives from the National Assembly by the following day.
