Israeli Politico Benny Gantz Criticizes Opposition Leaders Over Hostage Return and Political Divide

In a speech at the Blue and White party's general assembly, party chairman Benny Gantz criticized his opposition colleagues for their approach to the return of hostages and the deepening political divide in Israel.

Gantz stated that disqualifying Prime Minister Netanyahu is not the right approach, defining disqualification as applicable only to 'extremist' elements. He argued that opposition leaders have forgotten their public role and are more concerned with polls than advancing real solutions.

The former army chief of staff accused his opposition colleagues of failing to do everything possible to advance the return of hostages. He claimed that those who opposed his proposal for a government focused on hostage return and universal enlistment are afraid of losing seats in some poll.

Gantz also stated that opposition leaders have forgotten their responsibility to influence reality and represent the public. He warned that the political divide in Israel has dangerously deepened, and called on opposition leaders not to disqualify Netanyahu, emphasizing that such a move should only apply to truly extremist elements.

The political landscape in Israel remains divided, with Gantz's calls for a focused approach on hostage return and national service facing opposition from other factions. The deepening divide and the ongoing hostage crisis continue to be major issues of concern for the Israeli public.
