Opera premiere of the new season, featuring Mozart
Prepare for an enchanting journey of love, deception, and self-discovery as the Oper Leipzig presents Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's timeless masterpiece, "Cosi fan tutte". This Dramma giocoso in two acts, penned by Lorenzo Da Ponte, will captivate audiences from September 13, 2025, to May 23, 2026.
The production is under the visionary direction of Katharina Thoma, who has previously showcased her prowess with a successful staging of "Don Giovanni" at the same opera house in 2023. Matthias Foremny, the musical director, leads the renowned Gewandhaus Orchestra in this performance.
The opera will be performed in Italian, with German subtitles, allowing all to immerse themselves in the story. The opera house's concert foyer will host previews, including one on Tuesday, September 9th at 6:30 PM, and introductions will be held 30 minutes before each performance.
