Opera melodies from Strauss echo in Rheinsberg - specialized buses commute

Rheinsberg Castle, nestled in the picturesque surroundings of Brandenburg, Germany, is set to host an extraordinary event this August. The operetta "Die Fledermaus" by Johann Strauss will kick off the most elaborate and largest production of this year's festival season at the Kammeroper in Rheinsberg on the 4th of August, 2025 [1, 5].

This production, considered the highlight of the year's festival season, will take place outdoors in the castle's courtyard (Schlosshof), providing a captivating and historic open-air setting for the operetta [2, 5]. Other confirmed performance dates include the 2nd of August for a performance by young voices of Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg [3], and the 6th of August, both at 7:30 PM [4].

Under the reign of Prince Heinrich, Rheinsberg Castle and the pleasure garden developed into a centre of theater and music culture [6, 7]. This rich history of cultural association is evident in the castle's continued role as a cultural hub. The operetta's performance is a testament to this legacy, attracting thousands of visitors every year [8].

For those travelling from Berlin, planning train or bus connections through Neuruppin or Löwenberg to Berlin-Gesundbrunnen is standard [9]. Special buses will be deployed after all performances, taking visitors directly from the castle to Berlin-Gesundbrunnen [1].

Tickets for the performances start at around €44 and can be bought through Berlin.de or directly via Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg’s website [2, 4]. With some performances already sold out, there are still tickets available for the subsequent performances of the operetta [10].

The sounds of the performance will be heard far beyond the adjacent Grienericksee, as the traditional opera festival in Rheinsberg attracts many international artists every year [11]. Crown Prince Friedrich II, who later became King Friedrich II, sought refuge at Rheinsberg Castle from 1736 to 1740 [12]. The gift of Rheinsberg Castle by King Friedrich II to his brother, Prince Heinrich, marked a significant moment in the castle's cultural development [13].

The Rheinsberger Kammeroper continues to be a popular attraction, drawing in a large number of visitors [8]. Don't miss this opportunity to immerse yourself in the enchanting world of Johann Strauss's "Die Fledermaus" at the historic Schlosshof Rheinsberg.
