Opening Acts for 'Saturday Night Live' Season 51: Bad Bunny, Amy Poehler, and Sabrina Carpenter Lead the Way
The 51st season of "Saturday Night Live" (SNL) is set to kick off on October 4, with Bad Bunny as both host and musical guest for the premiere episode. This isn't the Puerto Rican rapper's first time on the iconic sketch comedy show, having previously acted as the musical guest in 2021, May of this year, and October 2023.
In a remarkable turn of events, the second episode on October 11 will see Amy Poehler returning as the host, a role she last played in 2015 and previously in 2010. Doja Cat will be the musical guest for the first show, while Sabrina Carpenter will take on dual roles as host and musical guest for the third episode on October 18.
Sabrina Carpenter, known for her appearances in SNL episodes this year, made her musical debut on the show in May of last year. Interestingly, the musical guest for the October 18 episode is yet to be announced.
The upcoming season of SNL has seen a mix of new and familiar faces. Alongside the aforementioned artists, Amy Poehler has made at least a dozen cameos on the show throughout her career. Additionally, there have been several exit announcements from the core cast, with some new additions joining the cast in recent weeks.
Bad Bunny is also set to launch a world tour later this fall, and he has added a final show to his Puerto Rico residency this weekend. The final show will be broadcast live on Amazon Prime, Twitch, and the Amazon Music App.
Meanwhile, Sabrina Carpenter has been making waves in the music industry, having previously appeared as the musical guest on an SNL episode in May of last year. She has also been part of SNL50: The Anniversary Special.
As the curtain rises on the new season of SNL, audiences can look forward to a mix of familiar faces and fresh talent, promising an exciting and entertaining journey.
