Open-air pool's three-meter diving board in Wiedenbrück has been restored for public use once more. - Open once more: the three-meter diving tower in Wiedenbrück's public swimming pool has resumed operations.
Let's dive right in, folks – Wiedenbrück's outdoor pool has some exciting news! The city of Rheda-Wiedenbrück has reopened the three-meter diving tower after a brief closure, just in time for the upcoming Pentecost weekend. Despite the pool falling 8 centimeters short of the official standards, it's back in action, ready for a splash of fun!
Hot off the presses, remember the norm set back in 2018? A minimum water depth of 3.70 meters is required for pools with a three-meter tower. Regrettably, the Wiedenbrück pool comes up a smidgen short at 3.62 meters. But don’t worry, it’s been a safe ride for years, with no reported injuries. However, during an inspection by the German Swimming Pool Association, this tiny depth deficit was under the spotlight.
Diving revisited – from cannonball to belly flop‘
With safety as its top priority, the city organized a daring public diving test, documenting a whopping 1,000 dives. Everything from foot jumps to belly flops showed light bottom contact in 25 cases, but no real health risks. To put it mildly, it's highly unlikely you'll break a toe here!
Moving ahead, the springboard's bounce has been dialed back and a lifeguard will be keeping watch. Apart from this, the tower is open for business once more. A friendly reminder from the city – The DIN standards may be stringent, but allow wiggle room for special cases, considering proper risk assessments.
