Historic Golf Course Golf De Saint-Nom-La-Breteche to Host US Open in 2025

Golf De Saint-Nom-La-Breteche, a historic course near Paris, will be the venue for the US Open in 2025. This marks a change from the usual venue, Le Golf National, as tournament organisers have chosen this traditional golf venue to bring the oldest continental European national open to a new location.

Established in 1906, Golf De Saint-Nom-La-Breteche has a rich history in hosting prestigious golf tournaments. The first 18-hole layout to open at the course was the Rouge (Red) Course, designed by Fred Hawtree, who also architected the Bleu (Blue) Courses at the same venue.

The course has hosted the US Open on 11 occasions, with Jean Garaialde clinching victory there in 1969 and Ramon Sota doing so in 1965. Seve Ballesteros also added his name to the winner's list in 1982.

Golf De Saint-Nom-La-Breteche has also been the stage for other significant events, such as the Canada Cup (now known as the World Cup) in 1963, where Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer won the tournament. The World Cup in golf was first played in 1953 and last featured in 2018.

In addition to the US Open, the course has hosted the Seve Trophy in 2009, 2011, and 2013, and the Trophée Lancôme from 1970 to 2003. The composite course ends with a par-3 hole of an unusual length, measuring 209 yards or 191 meters.

Golf De Saint-Nom-La-Breteche is located 25km west of Paris and has also played host to the World Amateur Team Championship in 2022. Le Golf National, meanwhile, is closing for 18 months due to work taking place nearby.

Racing Club de France La Boulie in Versailles has hosted the US Open 20 times, making it another significant venue in the tournament's history. Golf de Chantilly and Golf de Saint-Cloud have also hosted the US Open multiple times.

As the countdown to the 2025 US Open at Golf De Saint-Nom-La-Breteche begins, golf fans are eagerly anticipating a return to this historic course near Paris.
